Harvest Software Systems, Inc.
Val-Chem User Story
Val-Chem Company, Inc. is a chemical manufacturer
specializing in laundry, janitorial and transportation products.
Val-Chem has been in business for over 50 years.
Since 1992, they had been using an MS-DOS Processs
Manufacturing System.
In 2003 they were informed by the owners of their DOS system that they were selling the
company and to seek another software company.
In October, 2003 Val-Chem purchased a Windows Process Manufacturing System from one of Harvest’s
competitors.
After many months of conversions and trials, the new system
did not meet the expectations and needs of
Val-Chem and they decided they could no longer proceed with the system.
Val-Chem downloaded the Harvest demo, and noticed how easy it was to use and
would more easily fit their needs.
Val-Chem arranged a demo and it was decided to proceed with caution. You would be cautious
too if you just spent 6 months struggling
with something that could not be easily modified to meet
your expectations.
Each company performs in a different manner.
A software system should be tailored to fit the customer’s
operation and not force the customer to conform to a vendor’s software. Harvest was able to make the
necessary changes to customize the Process Manufacturing System to fit Val-Chem’s requirements.
With the other software company, Val-Chem would ask for changes and it would take weeks to get them,
and in some cases the changes could not be made at all.
Harvest was able to make the changes requested very rapidly.
Harvest prides itself on making changes in a quick and timely manner.
Within 4 weeks of taking the order, Harvest was able to modify the software, convert most of the data from the
old system into the new system, and Val-Chem was running parallel with the new system for testing.
The old system is now defunct and Val-Chem has Harvest’s Process Manufacturing System helping them
to run their business.
